RAD GUARD RADIATOR PROTECTOR

At the beginning of 2015 we both ordered a Rad Guard Radiator protector from Rad Guard Australia. This company has been known for making the best and toughest motorcycle radiator protectors you can get. Made in Australia, we knew they were made our tough conditions. Service was awesome, and we got the guards in a few days.

Unfortunately we hit a problem , which was no fault of the Rad Guard design. It was the recently installed GIVI TN3105 crash bars that were causing an issue. Because the crash bars uses the top radiator mounting bolts to mount some support brackets, these were preventing the radiator guards from being installed. Bummer!!

THIS IS THE BRACKET THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM.

After trying some possible solutions, including un-installing the crash bars and trying to mount the radiator guard first, we still had no solution, except to have the radiator guard modified. We contacted Rad Guard Australia, and spoke with Paul there about the dilemma we had. After some discussion  and emails, Paul offered to take the guards back and have them modified.

We then set about to make a template of the new shape required. It wasn’t much, the radiator guards just needed the top two corners slightly trimmed, which will then prevent the crash bar supports from interfering with the fitment, at last that’s what we hoped.

It only took Paul a few days to modify the guards and send them back. Opening the packet we could see that Paul had modified them perfectly, you would have thought they came this way originally.

Now came the big test, would they fit?

Goods news, they fit beautifully, and are no longer hindered by the GIVI TN3105 crashbar mounts! 🙂

So glad this worked out, as we really wanted the added protection and style that the Rad Guard added to the bikes. We can now ride both road & off-road knowing that the radiators are protected.

NO MORE ISSUES WITH CRASH BAR SUPPORT MOUNTS.

Highly recommend the RAD GUARD Radiator protectors, they make them for most makes and models. Great product, great service.

Just let them know if you have GIVI crashbars installed on your V-Strom 1000 2014+ model, as they now have the design to make you a guard to suit.
